The first time you will try to drive downtown will be an embarrassing experience. It’s vast, it’s huge, it’s busy, so overwhelming.

Whether you arrive from Greece or from Anatolia, you will enter the wider city complex while 40 kilometres will still remain to your final destination, let’s say Sultanahmet.

If you are an overland traveller, don’t even think about searching for a wild camping space somewhere in the centre. There is none! Find the Yenikapi sports centre, pay 12 euros per night, connect to 220V and forget your vehicle. In anyway you will need it only to sleep for the following few days. Or more days. Let’s say enough days…
